Your Bondurant Roofing Contractor: Proven Protection for Iowa’s Fastest-Growing City
As Bondurant’s roofing contractor of choice, Superstorm Roofing & Siding provides roof replacement, storm damage restoration, siding, gutters, and complete exterior services for homeowners throughout Bondurant, Iowa. We are one of only eight Owens Corning Platinum Preferred contractors in Iowa — the top 1% nationally — and we carry Iowa’s first $25,000 Good Contractors List guarantee. Our owner, Chandler Steffy, has been in construction since 1997, and our Waukee headquarters is about 25 minutes from most Bondurant neighborhoods.
Bondurant’s population has surged 143% since 2010, and most of that housing stock is new construction with builder-grade shingles that were designed to meet code — not survive Class 4 hail or 60+ mph straight-line winds. Eastern Polk County sits squarely in Central Iowa’s hail corridor, and a single significant storm can crack granules, loosen seal strips, and compromise flashing on roofs that are barely a few years old.
Our free drone-assisted inspections catch damage that ground-level views miss. Every inspection includes a detailed written report with high-resolution photos, delivered within 24 hours. We install Class 4 impact-resistant shingles that carry a 130 mph wind warranty and can qualify you for insurance premium discounts of up to 20%. We are not storm chasers passing through — we are here before, during, and after every storm season.

From storm damage restoration to full roof replacements and premium siding, our licensed crews handle every step — evaluation through final cleanup.
Roof Replacement & Impact-Resistant Upgrades
Most Bondurant homes still have the builder-grade shingles they were built with — designed to meet code, not survive Class 4 hail or 60+ mph winds. We install Owens Corning Duration (Class 3) or Duration FLEX (Class 4 impact-rated) shingles with SureNail Technology. Every installation includes proper ventilation, ice and water shield, and manufacturer-required starter and ridge cap — the details that protect your 50-year non-prorated warranty. Storm & Hail Damage Restoration
Eastern Polk County’s hail corridor delivers repeated storm damage season after season — cracked shingle granules, dented gutters, warped siding, and loosened flashing that may not be visible from the ground. After a storm, we provide thorough documentation with photos and measurements that homeowners can share directly with their insurance company. We provide the detailed documentation and evaluation data homeowners need when working directly with their insurance company, though we are not public adjusters. Storm damage services →
Siding, Gutters & Exteriors
Vinyl, engineered wood, and fiber cement siding built for Iowa’s temperature extremes. Seamless aluminum gutters, gutter guards, and soffit/fascia replacement round out a complete exterior restoration. For Bondurant’s newer subdivisions with contemporary architectural styles — board-and-batten accents, stone veneer facades, mixed-material exteriors — we match existing profiles and HOA specifications. Built for Bondurant’s Explosive Growth — and Iowa’s Punishing Storms
Alexander Conley Bondurant arrived in Polk County on horseback in the 1850s, spied a slight knoll on the tall-grass prairie, and built a one-room dwelling from lumber milled from a nearby grove. After marrying Margaret “Meg” Brooks in 1861, the Bondurants expanded the home into a stately Victorian mansion — sided with sturdy black walnut, featuring ornamental spindlework, decorative shutters, a wrap-around veranda, and three brick chimneys. An 1880 biography described it as a “stately mansion, surrounded by shade trees,” and the 1908 book The Pioneers of Polk County called it “a beautiful home, surrounded by the environment of luxury and comfort.” The Bondurant house also served as a schoolhouse for pioneer children and hosted church picnics and Old Settler reunions on the property. The historic home was lost to fire in January 1917 after standing for more than 50 years. Today, Morris Elementary and Anderson Elementary stand directly west of where the original Bondurant homestead once stood at 604 South Grant Street.
From that single homestead on the prairie, Bondurant has become one of the fastest-growing cities in Iowa — surging 143% since 2010, climbing past 9,400 residents, and breaking ground on new master-planned communities every season. The city commissioned a Special Census in 2024 because its growth had outpaced the federal count. Alexander Bondurant would hardly recognize the place — but the impulse that drove him to build well on this prairie is exactly the impulse we bring to every roof we install here.

The Bondurant Family House — the Victorian homestead of town founder Alexander Conley Bondurant and his wife Meg, sided with black walnut and standing on the prairie for more than 50 years before it was lost to fire in 1917. Photo restored and tinted from the original.
That growth means Bondurant’s housing stock is overwhelmingly new construction — and that creates a specific roofing problem. Most new homes are built with builder-grade architectural shingles that meet minimum code requirements but are not engineered for Iowa’s severe hail and high-wind conditions. A single significant hailstorm can crack granules, loosen seal strips, and compromise flashing on shingles that are barely a few years old. Homeowners often don’t realize the damage is there until a leak appears months later.
Bondurant’s position along the US Route 65 corridor on the eastern edge of the Des Moines metro means homes face the full force of storm systems rolling across Central Iowa. Open agricultural land to the east and north offers nothing to break severe winds, and the same storm cells that batter Altoona continue northeast directly into Bondurant’s neighborhoods.
Bondurant’s Neighborhoods
In Prairie Point View and the NE 108th Street corridor, D.R. Horton and other production builders are delivering ranch and two-story homes on a rolling schedule. These neighborhoods attract young families upgrading from starter homes in the metro, and many bring higher expectations for roofing quality. In Deer Ridge and the Bluff Drive area, the slightly older homes (built 2008–2018) are now entering the prime inspection window where accumulated storm damage becomes visible. In downtown Bondurant’s original grid — the older core south of Grant Street, where Alexander Bondurant’s homestead once stood — mid-century ranches and split-levels are often on their second or third roof, with original siding showing brittleness from decades of Iowa freeze-thaw cycling.
The Bondurant-Farrar Community School District — home of the Bluejays — serves more than 2,700 students across five schools, and enrollment keeps climbing as families move in. Lake Petocka, the Chichaqua Valley Trail, and the Bondurant Recreational Sports Complex give the city a recreation-centered identity. These are families investing in their community for the long term — and their homes deserve roofing and exterior protection built to match.

Home of the Bluejays — Bondurant-Farrar’s sports facilities and growing school district reflect a community investing for the long term.

Frequently Asked Questions — Bondurant Roofing Contractor
How do I know if my Bondurant roof has hail damage?
Hail damage on asphalt shingles often shows up as dark circular dents, granule loss, or cracked tabs. Dented gutters, dinged vent caps, and marks on siding are also strong indicators. Newer roofs in Bondurant’s fast-growing subdivisions can mask hail damage because the granule bed is still dense — a professional inspection catches what the ground view misses. Ours are free, and we document every finding with close-up photos so you can see exactly what we see. Read our hail damage guide →
My Bondurant home is brand new — do I still need a roof inspection?
Yes. New construction in Bondurant typically uses builder-grade shingles that meet minimum code requirements but are not engineered for Iowa’s severe hail and high-wind conditions. Even one significant hailstorm can crack granules or loosen seal strips on standard shingles. A free inspection tells you exactly where your roof stands — and if an upgrade to impact-resistant shingles makes sense, the insurance premium discount of up to 20% can offset the cost.
Does Superstorm help Bondurant homeowners with insurance claims?
We provide the detailed documentation and evaluation data homeowners need when working directly with their insurance company, though we are not public adjusters. Our inspection reports include measured damage areas, close-up photography, and material specifications — the same data insurance adjusters use to evaluate claims. Many Bondurant homeowners find that thorough, professional documentation leads to a smoother process with their carrier. Understanding your insurance claim →
What roofing materials do you recommend for Bondurant homes?
For most Bondurant homes, we recommend Owens Corning Duration shingles (Class 3 impact rating) or Duration FLEX shingles (Class 4 impact rating). The FLEX line is specifically engineered for high-impact resistance and carries a 130 mph wind warranty — a strong fit for Bondurant’s eastern prairie exposure along the Highway 65 corridor. Class 4 impact-rated shingles may also qualify homeowners for insurance premium discounts of up to 20%. See our impact-resistant shingles →
How long does a roof replacement take in Bondurant?
Most single-family residential roof replacements are completed in a single day. Larger or more complex homes — multi-story, steep slopes, or significant decking repairs — may require a second day. We schedule projects to minimize disruption and complete full cleanup, including a magnetic nail sweep of your yard and driveway, before we leave.
How much does a new roof cost in Bondurant?
Roof replacement costs depend on your home’s size, roof pitch, material selection, and whether any decking needs replacement. Across our 14,500+ inspections, the average homeowner out-of-pocket cost has been approximately $1,800, though every project is different. We provide detailed written estimates after your free evaluation — no surprises. FNBO financing is also available for homeowners who prefer monthly payments.
What should I do after a storm damages my Bondurant home?
Start by documenting what you can see from the ground — dented gutters, cracked siding, granule loss on shingles. Then call us at (515) 225-4880 for a free drone-assisted inspection. We provide the detailed documentation and evaluation data homeowners need when working directly with their insurance company, though we are not public adjusters. The sooner you schedule an inspection after a storm, the easier it is to catch damage before it leads to leaks or further deterioration. Post-storm guide →
What makes Superstorm different from other Bondurant roofing contractors?
Three things set us apart. First, our credentials: we are one of eight Owens Corning Platinum Preferred contractors in Iowa — the top 1% nationally. Our owner, Chandler Steffy, is a former member of the Owens Corning National Platinum Advisory Board — one of just 13 contractors selected nationwide — and has earned the National MVP Award and two Pinnacle Innovation Awards. Second, our $25,000 Good Contractors List guarantee — we were the first contractor in Iowa to offer it. Third, we are a permanent local company with offices in Waukee and Clarion — not a storm-chasing crew that disappears after collecting payment. Learn more about our story →
